The Boy & the pple Tree

The Boy & the Apple Tree

A
l
ong
time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to
come and play around it everyday. He climbed to

the treetop,
ate
the apples, took a nap under the shadow
…he
loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him. Time went
by…the little boy had grown up and he no longer played around
the tree every day.

One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad.
"Come and play with me”
the tree asked the boy.
"I am no
longer a kid, I do not play around trees
any more”
the boy replied.

“I
want toys. I need money to buy them.”

“Sorry, but I do not have money… but you can pick all my
apples and sell them. So, you will have money.”
The boy
was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left
happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples.
The tree was sad.

One
day, the boy who now turned into a man returned and the tree
was excited “Come and play with me” the tree said.
“I
do not have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need
a house for shelter. Can you help me?
“ Sorry, but I do not have any house. But you can chop off my
branches to build your house.”
So
the man cut all the branches of the tree and left happily. The
tree was glad to see him happy but the man never came back since
then. The tree was again lonely and sad.

One
hot summer day, the man returned and the tree was delighted.
"Come and play with me!” the tree said.
“I am getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself.
Can you give me a boat
?
said
the man. "Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail
far away and be happy.”
So the man cut the tree trunk to
make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a long
time.

Finally,
the man returned after many years. "Sorry, my boy. But
I do not have anything for you anymore. No more apples for you
…”
the tree said. "No problem, I do not have any
teeth to bite
" the man replied. "No
more trunk for you to climb on” “I am too old for that now”
the man said. "I really cannot give you anything...
the only thing left is my dying roots”
the tree said with
tears. "I do not need much now, just a place to rest.
I am tired after all these years”
the man replied. "Good!
Old tree roots are the best place to lean on and rest, Come,
come sit down with me and rest.”
The man sat down and the
tree was glad and smiled with tears…

This
is a story of everyone.

The tree is like our
parents

When
we were young, we loved to play with our Mum and Dad...

When
we grow up, we leave them…only come to them when we need something
or when we are in trouble.

No
matter what,

parents will always be there and

give everything they could

just to make you happy.

You may think the boy is cruel to the tree, but that is how
all of us treat our parents.

We take them 4 granted we don't appreciate all they do 4 us,
UNTIL it's 2 late.

Wallahi May Allah 4 give us of our shortcommings and
may He Guide us,

Insha'allah w Ameen Ya rub.

ampel 3,7kbPlease
enlighten
all your friends and your families by telling them this story,

Love
your Parents

And your Lord has decreed
that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your
parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your
life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them
but address them in terms of honour.

And lower unto them the wing of
submission and humility through mercy, and say: "My Lord!
Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was
small."

GRANDPA UTHMAN AND HIS GRANDSON

GRANDPA UTHMAN AND HIS GRANDSON

As soon as Idrees got home from school, he ran to his grandfather to ask him about something that was on his mind.

"Grandpa," he said, "I want to ask you something."

"What is it, Idrees?" asked Grandpa Uthman.

"Grandpa, on the bus, a lady was telling her friend how important patience is, and how true patience should be as it is described in the Qur'an. Can you tell me what that means, Grandpa?"

Grandpa Uthman nodded: "Most people don't know what real patience is, or how a patient person should behave. Some people think that patience just means confronting the difficulties and frustrations of life and putting up with them. But Allah teaches us in the Qur'an that real patience is very different from just putting up with something."

Idrees asked another question: "So, Grandpa, what's the source of this patience in the Qur'an?"

"You know, Idrees," answered his grandfather, "that the way to gain Allah's favor, love and pleasure is to fully obey His laws and commands in the Qur'an. Allah wants His servants to practice the morality of the Qur'an fully until the end of their lives. And the secret that enables them to obey this command, come what may, lies in the perfect patience that comes from faith. A person who learns the real meaning of patience can behave in the way that Allah desires from him and be regular in performing his prayers. A person of faith knows that Allah's knowledge and wisdom is in everything, nothing happens without His permission and that, behind every event, lie the purpose and all the countless good things that He has created."

"In that case, a person shouldn't be upset at the things that happen to him, but should always have patience," said Idrees.

Grandpa Uthman smiled: "Very true, Idrees. Allah is the friend, protector and helper of a believer. So, even if some don't appear so at first sight, all the things that happen to us are for our own good. For this reason, for a believer, being patient does not mean being forced to follow a moral command; on the contrary, it is an act of worship that he performs with joy and sincere pleasure. Believers know that whatever happens to them has been created by Allah and that something good will certainly come out of it. Because they know that Allah has determined the best fate for them, they face every event with enormous pleasure and inner content. In the Qur'an, Allah says:

'[Believers are] those who are steadfast and put their trust in their Lord.' (Surat al-'Ankabut: 59)"

"In that case, a believer's patience can't wear out!" exclaimed Idrees excitedly. "Now I understand what the lady on the bus was saying."

Grandpa Uthman answered: "Yes, my boy. Human beings show patience because it is a command from Allah, and so they will never be in a situation where they will lose it. Throughout their whole lives they will perform this act of worship with pleasure and eagerness."

"Thanks Grandpa," said Idrees. "Now I understand that patience is very important, and, if Allah so wills it, a person's patience will never come to an end."

Nabil's White Shoes

Nabil looks into the padi
field and watches the tadpoles swimming. It is the planting season
and the padi field is flooded. Farmers are going to remove the
seedlings from the seed beds and transplant them into the flooded
fields. The warm, wet climate in the tropics is ideal for growing
padi. Meantime the tadpoles are having fun swimming in the empty
field.

Nabil is waiting for his father
to take him to the masjid. He can hear his father calling him,
"Nabil, where are you?" (Aina anta, ya Nabil?) Nabil
replies, "I am coming, Ayah." He rushes to the road
to meet his father.

As they start walking they
hear a sound, squiissh, squiissh, squiissh, squiissh. "What
is that noise?" asks Nabil. They stop to listen, but the
noise stops as well. As they start walking again, they hear the
noise again, squiissh, squiissh, squiissh, squiissh. Again they
stop to listen. Again the noise stops. They are very puzzled.
" Is someone following us?" asks Nabil, as he looks
back. But there is no one there. What could the noise be? Is it
a bird in the sky or an insect in the padi field? Again as they
start walking they hear the noise.

Nabil looks down at his shoes
and squeals in delight. "Its my shoes, they are wet and are
making this squiisshing sound." They both laugh gleefully.
His father looks at Nabil's shoes and exclaims, "Nabil, there
is a hole in your shoe. We need to buy you a new pair of shoes.
Next week when I get some money, insha Allah, I will put aside
some money for your shoes first."

Nabil is very excited. Shopping
for new shoes will be fun.

On Monday after school, Nabil
asks his father, "Ayah, can we go shopping for my shoes?"
His father says, "Sabar (be patient), Nabil." Then Nabil
says to his father, "Ayah, today I saw my friend Azman wearing
a nice pair of black shoes." His father says, "Alhamdulillah,
that is what Allah s.w.t has given to him."

On Tuesday after school, Nabil
asks his father again, "Ayah, can we go shopping for my shoes?"
His father says the same thing, " Sabar, Nabil." Then
Nabil says to his father, "Ayah, today I saw Ustaz Marwan
wearing a new pair of white shoes." His father says, "Alhamdulillah,
that is what Allah s.w.t has given to him."

On Wednesday after school,
Nabil asks his father again, "Ayah, can we go shopping for
my shoes?" His father says, "Sabar, Nabil." "Nabil,
today I saw the postman wearing smart blue shoes." This time
Nabil says, "Alhamdulillah, that is what Allah s.w.t has
given to him."

On Sunday again Nabil says,
"Ayah, can we go shopping for my shoes?" His father
says, "Yes, today after salatul Zohor, insha Allah, we will
go and buy your shoes." Nabil performs his salatul Zohor
and quickly gets ready to go out shopping.

At the shoe shop, Nabil sees
a nice pair of black shoes. "Ayah, these shoes look very
smart," says Nabil. His father says, "Yes, they look
great, Nabil." His father looks at the price. "Nabil,
we can only spend $25 for your shoes. These shoes cost $55. It
would be a waste to buy these expensive shoes. This is an extravagance.
We would be spending an extra $30. Allah (swt) does not want us
to be extravagant, Nabil. What do you think we can use the $30
for?"

Nabil's father then reads
a verse of the Qur'an.

Bismillahir
Rahmanir Rahim

Walaa Tusri fuu

Innahu La yuhibbul Musrifeen

And
waste not [laa Tusri fuu] by extravagance (excess).

Verily,
He (Allah) loves not those who waste by extravagance (excess).

Surah
6 Verse 141

"Okay, Ayah," Nabil
says. We will not be extravagant." Nabil always obeys his
father, he is a soleh child.

Then Nabil sees a pair of
brown shoes that look very nice. "Ayah, these shoes are $27
only, can I buy them," asks Nabil. His father looks at the
shoes and says, "Yes, Nabil, these shoes are just right for
you."

As the salesman looks for
the right size of shoes, Nabil wanders around the shop and soon
sees a pair of white shoes that cost $17 only. He likes the shoelaces
on them. There are little bells dangling at the end of the shoelaces.

"Ayah, Ayah," Nabil
calls as he runs to the other side of the shop in excitement.
"Can I buy these pair of white shoes with the little bells
on them. They are cheaper than the brown shoes; we will save money
too. Do you know how much money we will save Ayah?"

"Are you sure you want
these shoes Nabil. I don't mind paying $27 for the brown shoes,
if you want them," his father says. "No, I don't want
the expensive brown shoes. I want these white shoes which are
cheaper. Ayah, we must not waste money. Remember what Allah (swt)
says," Nabil reminds his father by reading the verse from
the Qur'an.

Bismillahir
Rahmanir Rahim

Wa
laa Tusri fuu

Innahu La yuhibbul Musrifeen

And
waste not [laa Tusri] by extravagance (excess).

Verily,
He (Allah) loves not [ La yuhibbu] those who waste by extravagance
(excess).

Surah
6 Verse 141

His father smiles when Nabil
finishes reading the verse. He says, "Well, Nabil, now you
have a new pair of white shoes." Nabil replies, "Alhamdulillah,
this is what Allah (swt) has given to me."

Nabil is very happy. He keeps
looking at his new white shoes, smiles and keeps saying, "Alhamdulillah,
Alhamdulillah."

On the way back, Nabil's father
says, "Nabil you can have the $10 we saved by buying these
white shoes. You can do what you want with it, but remember to
do only those things that will earn you the pleasure of Allah
(swt) When Allah (swt) brings rezeki to us He also waits to see
what we do with it. This $10 comes to you from Allah (swt)"

Nabil's father reads a verse
of the Qur'an.

Bismillahir
Rahmanir Rahim

Wama
bikum min ni'matin faminallah

And
whatever of blessings [ ni'matin] and good things you have, it
is from Allah.

Surah
An-Nahl 16:53

The next day Nabil is thinking
of what he would like to do with all that money. It is a lot of
money and he has never had so much before. At first he thinks
he would like to spend all the money on ice cream or chocolates
or even buy that toy car he has seen at the supermarket. Just
the thought of it makes him very excited. But then he asks himself,
"Will Allah (swt) be pleased with me if I spend all the money
on myself?"

Next day after school he sits
down with his father and starts writing down his ideas. Nabil
decides to use the money in five different ways. Nabil starts
think, "How much money is there for me to use for each way
if I divide $10 into five ways?" Nabil sees that he has $2
to give his mother, whom he loves very much. He can spend $2 for
himself, he can use $2 to buy treats for his brothers and sisters,
he can save $2 and the last $2 he can give to the poor family
who lives near the masjid. He says to himself, " Allah (swt)
will be pleased with me if I use the money in this way rather
than if I spend it all on myself."

Next day he goes with his
mum to visit the poor family. When they reach the house they hear
some children crying. Nabil and his mum say, "Assalamu Alaikum,
Makcik Meriam." Makcik comes out and replies, "Wa alaikumus
Salam." One little girl follows makcik and keeps saying,
"I am hungry, mak. I am hungry, mak. Give me some food?"
(Ana jaw'an. Ana jaw'an. A'tinee ba'dha toa'am.)

Nabil's mother gives some
old clothes to makcik. Nabil gives his $2. Makcik is very happy
and says, "Alhamdulillah." She immediately wispers to
her son to go and buy a packet of rice so that she can cook it
for his little sister. There is nothing in the house to eat. Even
though she speaks very softly Nabil and his mother can hear.

Nabil is very upset and shocked
that there is nothing to eat in Makcik Meriams house. At his house
there is always something to eat. He puts his hand in his pocket
and feels the balance of the money. He realizes that makcik needs
the money to feed the family but he does not need the extra money.
He decides to give all the balance of $8 to Makcik. He immediately
sees her face light up even more as she keeps repeating, "Alhamdulillah,
Masha Allah." She tells her son to buy some more rice and
dried fish.

When they reach home, Nabil
starts crying as he remembers makcik's family who has no food
in their house. His mother consoles him and says, " Allah
(swt) sends rezeki to whomever he chooses. Allah (swt) gives more
to some and waits to see whether they will spend it all for themselves
or they will share with those who are in need."

Nabil looks at his new shoes and says, "Alhamdulillah, I
am glad I bought this pair of white shoes and saved $10 and therefore
could give it to makcik's family."

Bullock Cart and Mangoes

Rashida stays
in a little village in India with her family. India
is a country in

 Asia. It
is the hot season and there are a lot of delicious mangoes to eat.
Rashida goes to madrassah in a bullock cart with her little brother,
Lukman.

On her way back
she sees the vendors shouting, "Delicious mangoes for sale, come
and buy them."

There are many
types of mangoes; Rashida loves to eat mangoes.

Today, Rashida
is very excited. She has learnt something new in class and wants
to teach her mum.

Her mum has
told her, " Rashida you must teach me all that you learn in the
madrasah. Sometimes I can forget to practice what I have learnt.
If you remind me I will earn Allah s.w.t. pleasure and you will
earn a reward for teaching me. Remember Rashida, we must learn our
deen, practice it and teach it to others."

Rashida loves
to teach her mum. They have a lot of fun learning and helping each
other to practice what they have learnt.

Rashida runs
into the house and can smell the 'ras' (mango pulp) that her mum
has made for lunch. She will eat it with 'chapati' (flat whole meal
bread) .

"Ammi, Ammi,
I am home. Assalamulaikum ," says Rashida as she salaams her
mum and gets a big hug and a kiss."

Her mum says,"Wa
alaikumus Salam."

"Ammi,
I have something new to teach you today," says Rashida excitedly.

"Calm down,"
mum says. ' Wash your hands and eat your 'ras', then we can talk.'

Rashida is very
hungry and quickly washes her hands and sits down. Her little brother
starts eating and Rashida says, "What do we say before we eat?"

Her little brother,
Lukman, quickly stops eating and replies, 'Bismillah.'

Soon Rashida
And Lukman are relishing the delicious 'ras' and slurping it down
with 'chapati' and 'dhal' curry [lentil curry].

Soon lunch is
over and Rahida says her doa and starts helping her mum clear the
table and wash the dishes. Rashida always likes to help her mum.
Mum is always very busy with cooking, cleaning, washing clothes
and looking after Lukman and the baby. Mum looks very tired and
Rashida likes to help her mum so that her mum does not have to do
so much work and can take a short rest.

As she is washing
the dishes very carefully, she tells her mum about her school day,
"Today we learnt two names of Allah SWT."

" Alhamdulillah,"
says her mum. "Will you teach them to me.'

"Yes! yes!"
replies Rashida  excitedly. She loves to share with her mum.
"Al Baseer and Al Waduud'' 'These are the two names I have learnt."

Her mum repeats,
"Al Baseer, Al Waduud; Al Baseer, Al Waduud," "Rashida what
does Al Baseer mean."

"Al Baseer means,
The All Seeing and Al Waduud, means The Loving."

"Oh! That is
beautiful." Mum repeats again, " Al Baseer, The All Seeing; Al Waduud
The Loving; Al Baseer, The All Seeing; Al Waduud The Loving."

Soon even Lukman
is saying," Al Baseer, The All Seeing; Al Waduud, The Loving; Al
Baseer, The All Seeing; Al Waduud The Loving ."

Mum looks at
Rashida and winks at her and whispers, " See how teaching me also
teaches your brother the names of Allah s.w.t.. Isn't that great,
Alhamdulillah. You will get a reward from Allah s.w.t. for teaching
me as well as Lukman." Mum gives Rashida a big hug and a kiss.

Mum said, "Today
you were a tilmeezah [a student] and an ustazah [a teacher], alhamdulillah.
Allah will be pleased with you."

What are you waiting for?!!

Repentance gates are opened

Why Repentance?

All praise is due to Allah the Forgiver of sin, the Acceptor of repentance, the Severe in punishment. It is He Who opens the gates for those who seek His forgiveness, and it is He Who facilitates the reasons for those who seek repentance. Peace be upon the messenger of Allah (whom Allah sent as a mercy to the worlds) and his family and company.

We all are sinful:

We all are sinful … We remember Allah at times and forget Him at others; we watch our deeds at times and be inattentive at others.

We all have sins and always do mistakes. Neither I nor you are infallibles. The prophet, peace be upon him, said: “all the children of Adam are sinning and the best sinners are those who repent.” (Narrated by At-Tirmizy and approved by Al-Albany).

However … What does Repentance mean?

Repentance means to refrain (inwardly and outwardly) from what Allah hates, and to do (inwardly and outwardly) what Allah likes. Repentance is the essence of the legislations of Islam and the facts of faith.

Repentance is the guidance that protects from despair and despondency. It is the effluent fountain of every goodness and happiness in this life and in the hereafter.

Repentance is the essence of religion, source of life and the reason of happiness. It is the beginning, the middle and the end _ it is the beginning and the end of the human life.

Repentance means to refrain from the sin because of fearing Allah, feeling the nastiness of the sin, feeling guilty for doing it, and determining not to do it again as possible as you can. Repentance is a feel of guilt over what had occurred, seeking Allah’s satisfaction in the present and future deeds, and refraining from doing the sin.

Why should we repent?

Some person may ask:

Why should I abandon the sin that gives me pleasure?

Why should I stop watching films and hearing music while they give me rest?

Why should I refrain from the obscene phone calls that I desire?

Why should I stop looking at women while this gives me pleasure?

Why should I abide by prayers and fasting while I do not like to abide?

Why… Why … Why…

Is not it good for the person to do whatever gives him/her pleasure and rest? What gives me pleasure is what you call it “sin”. So, why should I repent?

O dear brother, before answering your question, I want you to know that I wanted nothing but your pleasure, hoped nothing but your rest, and meant nothing but your goodness in this life and in the hereafter.

Now, I will answer your question. You should repent because;

1- Repentance is obedience to your Lord’s order; It is He Who ordered it by saying: “O you who have believed, repent to Allah with sincere repentance.” [At-Tahrim 66:8], and Allah’s order must be obeyed.

Transliteration: Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Tūbū 'Ilaá Allāhi Tawbatan Naşūĥāan

2- It is a reason for your success in this life and in the hereafter; Allah almighty says: “And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.” [An-Nur 24:31]

Transliteration: Wa Tūbū 'Ilá Allāhi Jamī`āan 'Ayyuhā Al-Mu'uminūna La`allakum Tufliĥūna

Therefore, the heart does not feel goodness, success, pleasure or satisfaction except when it worships its Lord and repents to Him.

3- It is a reason of gaining Allah’s love; Allah almighty says: “Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves.” [Al-Baqarah 2:222]

Transliteration: 'Inna Allāha Yuĥibbu At-Tawwābīna Wa Yuĥibbu Al-Mutaţahhirīna

Is there pleasure better than the pleasure that one feels when s/he knows that Allah loves him/her when s/he repents to Him?!

4- It is a reason for entering paradise and not entering the hellfire; Allah almighty says: “But there came after them successors who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil – (59) Except those who repent, believe and do righteousness; for those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged at all.” [Maryam 19:59-60]

Transliteration: Fakhalafa Min Ba`dihim Khalfun 'Ađā`ū Aş-Şalāata Wa Attaba`ū Ash-Shahawāti Fasawfa Yalqawna Ghayyāan (59) 'Illā Man Tāba Wa 'Āmana Wa `Amila Şāliĥāan Fa'ūlā'ika Yadkhulūna Al-Jannata Wa Lā Yužlamūna Shay'āan

Is there anything deserves to be sought except paradise?!

5- It is a reason for having blessings and increase in strength, wealth and children; Allah almighty says: “And Allah invites to the Home of Peace and guides whom He wills to a straight path.” [Yunus 10:25]

Transliteration: Wa Allāhu Yad`ū 'Ilá Dāri As-Salāmi Wa Yahdī Man Yashā'u 'Ilá Şirāţin Mustaqīmin

And He says: “And said, ‘Ask forgiveness of your Lord’. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. (10) He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers (11) And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers” [Nuh 71:10-12]

Transliteration: Faqultu Astaghfirū Rabbakum 'Innahu Kāna Ghaffārāan (10) Yursili As-Samā'a `Alaykum Midrārāan (11) Wa Yumdidkum Bi'amwālin Wa Banīna Wa Yaj`al Lakum Jannātin Wa Yaj`al Lakum 'Anhārāan

6- It is a reason for expiating the sins and changing them into good deeds; Allah almighty says: “O you who have believed, repent to Allah with sincere repentance. Perhaps your Lord will remove from you your misdeeds and admit you into gardens beneath which rivers flow” [At-Tahrim: 8]

Transliteration: Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Tūbū 'Ilaá Allāhi Tawbatan Naşūĥāan `Asaá Rabbukum 'An Yukaffira `Ankum Sayyi'ātikum Wa Yudkhilakum Jannātin Tajrī Min Taĥtihā Al-'Anhāru

And He almighty says: “Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.” [Al-Furqan 25:70]

Transliteration: 'Illā Man Tāba Wa 'Āmana Wa `Amila `Amalāan Şāliĥāan Fa'ūlā'ika Yubaddilu Allāhu Sayyi'ātihim Ĥasanātin Wa Kāna Allāhu Ghafūrāan Raĥīmāan

Muslim brothers and sisters,

Do not these virtues (along with others) deserve to be sought by repentance?!

Why do we deprive ourselves from their pleasure?! … Why do we insult ourselves and deprive them from gaining Allah’s satisfaction by disobeying Him?! … We should do what brings to us these results and gains.
